Man United star speaks out about Barcelona rumours

Manchester United star Victor Lindelof has responded to rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona as he insists his loyalty remains to his current club.

The Swede’s agent spoke about how now that the player has a new contract he can admit the Spanish champions were chasing him following their failed attempt to sign Matthijs de Ligt.

Lindelof was heavily linked with a transfer to Barcelona but nothing came of it in the end and he now features regularly alongside United’s new signing Harry Maguire.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has more or less sorted out his side’s defensive woes but now the attacking woes have replaced the previous problem.

The Red Devils currently sit in 12th place and the former Benfica man admits he has unfinished business with his current club.

According to Caught Offside, Lindelof said: “A lot has been written, but as far as I am concerned I have a contract with the Red Devils and I am a loyal type.

“For me it was never a doubt, I wanted to stay at United and believe in what we do, that’s why I signed a renewal. I love to represent United and wear that shirt every day.

“My goal since I arrived is to win titles and do good for the fans, but I haven’t won anything yet so my big goal is to do it.”

Hopefully Lindelof and Maguire’s partnership at the back can continue to improve as there have been moments of weakness despite the team’s overall defensive solidity.

The pair have failed to read each other’s movements on occasion earlier on in the season but it seems Solskjaer has recently ironed out those issues too.

Having two ball-playing defenders has improved Manchester United’s distribution from the back but it’s now the midfielders who fail to do anything of note.

Barcelona want Mbappe or Kane

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are planning their next big transfer move after the potential deal with Neymar fell apart. The Spanish giants were eager to bring the Brazilian sensation into the club for a second tenure during the summer transfer window, but they just couldn’t quite get the deal over […]

Betis monitoring Alena

Real Betis are watching the situation of Carles Alena at Barcelona with much interest, according to Marca. The 21-year-old is no longer registered for Barcelona B and can therefore play only for the first team, which was apparently a big gamble on his part. At this point in his career, the midfielder needs game-time to […]

United to revisit Rakitic interest

Manchester United have been credited with interest in Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic before, but the Catalan giants weren’t interested in parting ways with the Croatia international and even if they were, the competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus would likely be too strong for the 20-time English champions. Now, however, things have changed. […]

Key Man United star wanted by Barcelona in big transfer: report

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is reportedly on Barcelona’s wish-list despite just renewing his contract last summer.

The young Englishman has struggled to make an impact this season, particularly as a striker, having played in that position in Anthony Martial‘s absence.

Although United overall have been poor, fans have taken exception to Rashford as many feel he should be performing regularly at this stage.

However, the Spanish giants are still believed to be keen on the academy product and so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have a fight on his hands.

Rumours initially kicked off before the versatile attacker renewed his contract before dying down again but they’ve bizarrely come to the fore once more.

According to FourFourTwo, Barcelona are planning for a future without Luis Suarez and so have turned their attentions towards Rashford amongst others.

Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe are amongst the other options for the La Liga giants but both will certainly cost more than the Manchester United star.

Rashford is a diehard United fan but if he is continuously attacked and underperforming at Old Trafford, he may be tempted to reconsider his future.

After all, Barcelona don’t come knocking often but the Red Devils will likely feel secure having tied him down until 2023 at least.

Man United ‘open talks’ with this Barcelona star in Solskjaer revolution

Manchester United have reportedly began initial negotiations for Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to improve his thin squad.

The experienced Croatian has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and it seems that may finally happen.

After all, United are desperate to add to an underperforming midfield with the squad overall lacking in depth.

Solskjaer is also a little short on experienced players and so perhaps bring Rakitic in could solve that problem.

The playmaking midfielder is understood to be unhappy with his situation in Spain so a transfer away is not difficult to imagine.

According to the Mirror, the Red Devils have ‘opened talks’ with Rakitic in the view of signing him this January with Barcelona wanting at least £34m to get the deal done.

In truth this would not be a smart decision from Solskjaer as he would be spending too much on an ageing player which doesn’t seem worth it.

Manchester United have made that mistake far too often and are better off investing that money elsewhere.

After all, Solskjaer is already struggling to offload another experienced midfielder in the form of Nemanja Matic and he certainly doesn’t need to be stuck with another later on.

Barcelona willing to let Rakitic go in January

Barcelona are willing to part ways with Ivan Rakitic in the upcoming winter transfer window, according to AS. Having played for Basel and Schalke 04 previously, Rakitic arrived to the Camp Nou in 2014 after four years with Sevilla, where he had proven that he possesses the quality to play at the highest level. Since […]
