According to Sportsmail, Manchester United have pulled out of the race to sign Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as the Eagles’ £70million valuation of the youngster has put them off.

United need another right-back following Antonio Valencia’s exit, but they aren’t ready to break the bank for the 21-year-old and will instead push a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier.

The 27-year-old has one year left on his deal at the Parc des Princes and can be snapped up for £25million this summer.

The Red Devils have held fresh talks over a move for the Belgian international this week, but it remains to be seen if a deal will be struck anytime soon, with the PSG star not short of suitors.

Champions League football could play a huge role, and Meunier, like most players in their prime, will prefer a club that compete regularly in the elite European competition.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to make quality additions to the squad over the summer transfer window, and the Belgian fits the bill perfectly given the huge quality and experience he brings to the table, but it could take a lot of efforts to convince the defensive powerhouse into making a summer move to Old Trafford.

Man Utd want Meunier over Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United are badly in need of a starting right-back for the next season. Ashley Young is not good enough and Diogo Dalot is talented, but will need plenty of time to reach his full potential. And the Devils have been looking at several players in that position. According to Daily Mail, the club now […]

Man United need this much to sign Wan-Bissaka: report

Manchester United have reportedly hit a stumbling block in their pursuit of Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

It was always believed a deal for the youngster would be difficult to conclude but no one had expected the London club to play hard-ball this much.

United’s desire to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer is no secret and so targeting the Englishman made sense.

However, they may need to look elsewhere since Palace are asking for a little bit too much for Wan-Bissaka.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he wants to invest smartly and not just bring in big names but this deal can no longer be considered a smart one.

According to the Independent, Crystal Palace are under no pressure to sell Aaron and so are looking for over £70m from the Red Devils to part ways with him.

Solskjaer’s need to bring in a right-back might not be so desperate, especially considering how Jose Mourinho invested in one just last summer.

While Diogo Dalot isn’t completely ready to star regularly next season, he does have to be given a chance to develop and transition into a starting XI role.

After all, the Portuguese has been impressive in his short career at Old Trafford so far and deserves a shot rather than paying far too much for similar prospects.

United ready to take the next step in signing this Premier League defender: report

Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.

The Englishman has emerged as a target of the club after it was believed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it a point to invest in the full-back positions.

The youngster is the kind of signing the Norwegian has previously spoken about making but fans were a little confused by the reports.

After all, Diogo Dalot was only just signed last summer with many believing he was the man to make the right-back spot his own.

Nonetheless, United have taken the next step in their decision to get Wan-Bissaka’s signature and so a transfer could be closer than originally anticipated.

According to the Evening Standard, the Red Devils are gearing up to place a £25m bid for Aaron despite it being far away from Crystal Palace’s evaluation of him which is believed to be £50m.

The number the London club want is a little high but it’s taking into consideration the potential the 21 year old has.

Manchester United will be hoping their stature and their participation in the Europa League next season will be enough to convince Wan-Bissaka to openly ask for a move in order to lower the asking price.
