Barcelona want Mandzukic?

According to a recent report from Tuttosport, Mario Mandzukic has been linked with a move to Barcelona as a potential deputy for Luis Suarez. That role in itself seems pretty strange, considering the fact that Suarez himself has been heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp. Mandzukic was previously thought to be […]

Has Arsenal striker inadvertently ruined Spurs season-long plans for £10m winger?

Tottenham Hotspur signed Leeds United winger Jack Clarke on a four-year deal last month for £10 million, and immediately loaned him back to the Elland Road outfit for the season.

Signing the 18-year-old was a relief for Spurs who last signed a player in January 2018 – when Lucas Moura arrived from Paris St-Germain.

Clarke is expected to further his development and return to North London a better player capable of giving manager Mauricio Pochettino a selection headache.

However, another man from North London seems to be blocking Spurs’ season-long plans for the teenager from coming to fruition.

Leeds brought in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah on loan on deadline day as manager Marcelo Bielsa was forced to prioritize signing another number 9 after Kemar Roofe left for Anderlecht.

The arrival of the Gunners man meant the Whites ended up with six loan signings – including Clarke.

The EFL rules allow only five loanees in a match-day squad, and the Tottenham man was the odd one out against Wigan Athletic last weekend.

Nketiah’s arrival means Leeds have to almost always name him in their matchday squad as they could need him to start or come on, while they also had to promise Arsenal he will be used regularly before a deal was sealed.

Tottenham have no such agreement in place with the Whites, and the fact that Clarke played all 90 minutes in
Leeds Under-23s’ win against Millwall on Monday hints that he could miss out on tonight’s matchday squad against Brentford.

He will definitely get his chance going forward, but at the moment, the Spurs winger is somewhat surplus to requirements, and that is mainly because Nketiah’s arrival complicated the EFL’s loan quota.

‘Outstanding’, ‘Ticks every box’ – Gerrard drools over his 23-yr-old Rangers signing

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on his new signing Joe Aribo.

The 23-year-old put on a superb display during the 3-0 win over East Fife and his performance seems to have impressed the manager a lot.

Speaking to Daily Record, Gerrard claimed that the midfielder has the world at his feet.

He said: “Joe can go as far as he wants. I hope he stays alongside me for many years but he’s got the world at his feet. I can’t wait to work with him for longer. He was outstanding from start to finish. He looked superb all day. He has four goals in eight games but it isn’t just about that it is about your all round performances. Top players turn up anywhere, it doesn’t matter if it is in front of 50,000, or 1,500, your standards are always the same and from day one Joe has done that. He has got so many attributes. It’s okay having them but if you have the right mentality and character you can go as far as you want to go. Joe expresses himself. He just loves playing football. He is robust, he’s leggy, rangy, can score a goal, can set them up, he tackles, he wins balls back, he’s skillful. He ticks every box and with experience he is only going to get better.”

The former Charlton midfielder seems to have settled in really well at Ibrox and it will be interesting to see if he can build on these performances now.

Aribo has the tools to develop into a star player for Rangers and he could make a big difference to their season if he stays fit.

The 23-year-old has the talent to shine in Scotland and Gerrard will be hoping for more of the same as the season progresses.

Rangers will be looking to push Celtic for the title this year and Gerrard will need players like Aribo in top form in order to do so.

It will be interesting to see how Aribo builds on this performance going forward. He will want to make a name for himself at his new club and his start has certainly been very encouraging so far.

Leeds are thought to be keen on the Serbian midfielder Nemanja Radoja.

According to Teamtalk, West Ham are interested in the player as well.

The 26-year-old is a free agent and therefore the English clubs can sign him even though the window for signings has closed.

It will be interesting to see if Leeds make their move for Radoja in the coming days.

He could prove to be a very useful addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s side. Radoja would add some defensive cover to Leeds’ midfield and improve them at the back.

The Serbian’s arrival will also allow the Whites to play with more freedom.

Radoja will allow the creative players to play without too many defensive responsibilities. Also, he will add depth to the midfield and that could prove to be invaluable during the course of the Championship season.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.

If West Ham are genuinely interested in the player, Leeds might find it difficult to compete financially.

The Hammers can offer him a bigger sign-on fee and more wages.

Having said that, if Bielsa manages to pull this off on a free, it would transform Leeds’ midfield. Radoja could prove to be a transfer masterstroke from the Argentine manager.

Tottenham are interested in signing the Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

According to Daily Mail, Manchester City and Arsenal are keen on the player as well.

The 16-year-old is already starting games for Rennes and he made quite the impression against PSG earlier in the season.

It is no surprise that the top teams are taking an interest in him already.

It will be interesting to see how Camavinga develops over the course of this season. The transfer window for the Premier League clubs has closed and therefore the likes of Spurs won’t be able to sign him now.

They will have to wait until January at the very least to make their move for the technically gifted midfielder.

As per the report from Daily Mail, all three Premier League clubs had scouts watching the player in action on Sunday.

It will be interesting to see if any of his suitors make a move for him in January. Spurs certainly have the money to tempt Rennes into selling their prized asset.

The Londoners can provide him with the ideal platform to develop as well.

Pochettino is very good at developing young players and he could take Camavinga to a whole new level.
